Pipes and tubes are identified by a standard when the project names one, then by grade, outside diameter or nominal size, wall thickness or schedule, length, finish and quantity. Ø 48.3 × 3.2 is a typical way to write a circular hollow; it is an example of notation, not a claim that this size is in stock.
Application changes the reading of the same diameter. A handrail tube, a services pipe and a structural CHS can share a number on a drawing and still be different mill items. Send the use in one line. If the pipe is for building services, the relevant pressure or medium belongs in the enquiry only if the specification already states it — we do not size services.
Welded versus seamless, and coated versus black, should be copied from the specification rather than guessed. We will say what can be offered. Cut lengths, bevelling and threading are fabrication operations; unless they are explicitly part of the supply request, the quotation is for plain length.
This category sits beside steel sections. If the project needs both open/hollow sections and pipe, send one list. Documentation available from the mill — typically a certificate for the batch — is included when the supplier issues it. We coordinate delivery of the agreed item; we do not install pipework.

Sourcing and documentation
Identified by standard, grade, size, wall, finish and length. Subject to enquiry and availability. Final suitability depends on the project specification, substrate, exposure and system design.
